Showcasing the project
The Irish Voices Oral History project was showcased across the city of London in a number of exhibitions and events including a month long exhibition at London’s City Hall, a number of libraries and community centres across the city, as part of the 2014 Oral History Society Conference and of course during the London St.Patrick‚Äôs Day Parade and Festivals in both 2014 and 2015.
Our exhibitions and events showcased many of the stories, imagery and history from the archive as well as presenting the ways that the project is connected to other communities and people across the city of London.
Exhibition at Walthamstow Library
Young people in Waltham Forest worked with professional artists and the Irish Voices team on our 10 week schools project to explore the oral history recordings and bring their own unique interpretations to the Irish Voices stories by making connections with their own cultural heritage. Following the project they exhibited their poetry and artwork at Walthamstow Library, with an event to show their film and perform their spoken word poetry. For more information on the schools project, see our learning  section.
