A chance to take part in public consultations for New Diaspora Policy

Back to all news

Ireland’s Minister of State for the Diaspora and International Development Ciarán Cannon, T.D., is hosting public meetings in early July in London, Leeds, and Manchester to welcome public input into Ireland’s new Diaspora Policy, expected to be published in 2020.

The workshop–style meetings will be a great opportunity for the Irish community in the UK to have their say on how the Government of Ireland can improve its support for, and connections with, the Irish diaspora.

Meeting topics to be explored include:

  • How does Ireland continue to connect with people in the UK who feel a connection to Ireland?

  • How can Ireland support and strengthen those long–established Irish communities in the UK?

  • How are these communities changing, and what are their needs now?

The Diaspora Policy public meetings will take place at:

3 July The Irish Cultural Centre, Hammersmith, beginning at 12:00pm/noon

3 July London Irish Centre, beginning at 6:00pm

4 July Leeds Irish Centre, beginning at 12:00pm/noon

4 July Manchester, Irish World Heritage Centre beginning at 6:00pm
