This year’s course will commence in early April and will run for ten consecutive months. Participants of the programme will meet monthly for a combination of in person and virtual seminars, wrapped up with a showcase and presentation event for graduates.
About the programme
Irish in Britain established this free tailored course for people who want to make a positive difference in the lives of Irish people in Britain through local community organisations.
The programme welcomes applicants who have an interest in becoming a trustee, or those who already sit on a board who would like to broaden their skills.
Participants will learn about the roles, responsibilities, and value of effective voluntary sector stewardship including:
An introduction to the history of the sector
A range of speakers in specialist and related fields
Interactive learning on governance of voluntary and community sector organisations
Tailored networking to understand the operational and strategic needs of the sector
The opportunity to explore and model governance solutions through group learning
Brokered introductions and placement opportunities with member organisations on completion
Criteria for selection to take part in the programme
The ability to commit to the programme
An interest in strengthening the voluntary/community sector
An interest in promotion of Irish culture and welfare in Britain
A commitment to volunteering for governance roles
