In this podcast, our volunteer Valerie Nangle speaks to diabetes specialist nurse Jo Lynch about diabetes including the different types of diabetes – type one, type two and gestational diabetes – warning signs to look out for and tips for managing the condition.
About Jo
Jo Lynch is a Diabetes Specialist Nurse working at a District General Hospital in North London. Jo came to London in 1990 from County Sligo to train as a nurse and has remained living and working in North London since then.
She has worked in various settings over the last 30 years including medical in–patient wards, Cardiology out–patients, practice nursing and most recently as a diabetes specialist. She said,
“I am keen to raise awareness of diabetes and the many preventable complications that can occur if diabetes is not well managed. I enjoy working with individuals and supporting them to make lifestyle changes around their diet, exercise and healthy living consequently allowing them to enjoy a better life.”
