Irish Community Services offer a range of services and support to members of the Irish Community living in or near South London Boroughs of Greenwich, Bexley and Lewisham.
These include five Lunch Clubs, Tea Cake Club. Elders Outreach advice and support service for members of the Irish Community who are 55 and over. Advice and Health for the younger Irish offering employment and benefit support. Dementia Support through Three Happy Days Reminiscence groups across the three boroughs. Carers Support Service for all those who care for a loved one. Cancer Self Help Group offering peer support.

Opportunity description:
We run five lunch clubs across Bexley, Greenwich and Lewisham. Volunteers are required to help with the running of the clubs and assist with task as required. These could include, setting up the tables, servicing the lunches, tea and coffee and clearing the tables. The members who attend can be isolated and lonely so the volunteers would also provide a opportunity for a friendly chat.
The lunch clubs are a social activity for the members and which they look to forward to and enjoy.
Commitment required / duration: Weekly. Times depend on role.
Training provided: Induction training provided
Benefits and perks: Lunch provided
Skills required: Good communication skills and empathy are needed.
Previous experience working or volunteering with the elderly would be preferable but not essential.
