Combining traditional Irish music with the raw, raucous energy of punk, Shane peerlessly captured the Irish emigrant experience with his timeless songs of love and heartache, displacement, death, revelry, and redemption. The film dives headfirst into Shane's formative early years in Tipperary, his adolescence in 1970s London at the heart of the city's punk scene - from which The Pogues emerged in 1982 - and his storied career with the band throughout the ‘80s and beyond.
Featuring archive footage, animation, and interviews over a drink with Shane himself, this is the definitive portrait of the talent, charm and true genius of the great Shane MacGowan.
Kelly’s Heroes are back at Broadway with live Irish music in the Café Bar before the film.
