My role as a cardiac nurse with Irish in Britain and the ‘Green Hearts’ initiative combines both raising awareness and prevention of cardiac disease and hypertension within the Irish diaspora living in the UK.
Originally from Slane, Co Meath, I have lived in London since 1990’s and worked as a cardiac specialist nurse and a university lecturer with a special interest in prevention of cardiac disease and migrant health.
The ‘Green Hearts’ initiative allows for the opportunity, through a range of approaches and outreach work, to engage the Irish diaspora to provide education and heart health screening to our members and the Irish community.
