County Wicklow – Contae Chill Mhantáin

Author and Liverpudlian Jack Byrne talks about the beauty of Wicklow – its mountains, valleys and beaches – in his video.

Jack Byrne has just published his new novel Under the Bridge, about two Wicklow emigrants moving to Liverpool after the Second World War. This was the journey taken by Jack’s father and Jack still takes his children to visit the county.

The Meeting of the Waters, where the Avonbeg and Avonmore meet to form the Avoca river, is Jack’s favourite spot. Avoca town and the Vale of Avoca are well known from the TV show Ballykissangel. He wishes everyone a happy St Patrick’s Day (featuring a surprise guest).
