In its first year, over 300 people were screened at Green Hearts blood pressure awareness events across Britain.
High blood pressure is the main risk factor for stroke and a major risk factor for heart attack, heart failure and kidney disease. There is also increasing evidence that it is a risk factor for vascular dementia.
Green Hearts partnered with the international blood pressure campaign May Measurement Month to roll out our national Green Hearts screening campaign. From London to Leeds to Liverpool, over 300 people were screened, and more than 600 guides given out. The campaign was launched at Luton Irish Forum by MEP Alex Mayer and attended by Hertfordshire GAA Chairperson Diarmuid Walsh.
